Bikmo partners with national cycling database

Bikmo, a specialist bike insurance business, has teamed up with the national bike marking and registration scheme, BikeRegister.

With nearly one million bikes registered, for free or through the firm’s security marking kits, BikeRegister is the UK’s largest national cycle database.

The partnership will provide BikeRegister’s members access to exclusive pricing to Bikmo’s Hiscox-underwritten insurance policies.

David George, chief executive at Bikmo, said: “Having seen a notable increase in bike thefts since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, protecting riders’ bikes from theft has never been so important.

“By joining forces with the UK’s national bike marking scheme, we hope to offer both of our communities the opportunity to gain complete peace of mind at discounted prices.”

BikeRegister is endorsed by organisations including the Metropolitan Police and British Transport Police, who can use the app to access real-time information.

James Brown, managing director at the company, said: “Our aims have always been to protect cyclists’ prized possessions and help the police tackle cycle crime, and this partnership will put us in a stronger position than ever to achieve these goals.

“We have been aware of Bikmo for some time, and admired their progress with interest. We are excited to now be able to bring Bikmo’s market-leading policies to our customers.”
