ARAG, a European insurance group, has extended its accreditation under ISO standards, with the addition of a 22301:2019 certification.
The 22301:2019 standard addresses the “security and resilience” of an organisation’s business continuity management system to ensure that it is “sufficiently robust” to withstand disruption.
ARAG said the company looked to achieve the certification as a “response” to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Previously, in 2015, ARAG achieved ISO 27001:2013 certification, the standard for information security.
Simon Barrett, chief financial officer at ARAG, said: “Our experience during the pandemic has demonstrated an excellent level of resilience in difficult circumstances.
“Things like the rapid shift to homeworking went very smoothly but, rather than patting ourselves on the back, we looked at how we could document learnings and improvements.”
He added: “ISO 22301:2019 offers the perfect framework to do that and obviously integrates neatly with our information security management system, which is 27001:2013 certified. So, the two systems work in parallel.”
