AX Insurance obtains UK police recognition

AX’s software arm, AX Innovation, has joined the Secured by Design (SBD) programme – the official police security initiative that is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim to reduce crime and help people live more safely

AX, the provider of accident aftercare services for motorists, has obtained UK police recognition for its covert tracking device for vehicles.

AX’s software arm, AX Innovation, has joined the Secured by Design (SBD) programme – the official police security initiative that is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim to reduce crime and help people live more safely.

Furthermore, AX’s intelligent covert tracking and stolen vehicle recovery solution, AX Track, has achieved the police preferred specification – SBD’s product-based accreditation scheme.

The police preferred specification provides a recognised standard for all security products that can deter and reduce crime and it’s the official Police security initiative that is owned by the UK Police Service.

As part of the SBD initiative, AX Innovation will work with the group to aid its efforts in tackling vehicle crime, a significant contributor to overall UK crime rates.

Neil Thomas, Director of Investigative Services at AX Innovation, said: “This product is ideal for brokers working in the High-Net-Worth insurance space and the classic car market.

“Our AX Track device is already fully Thatcham accredited – with a category S7 approval that can be used to lower insurance premiums – and, importantly, has a current recovery rate of stolen vehicles of 99.4 percent.”

Doug Skins, development officer at Secured by Design, said: “I’m really pleased that AX Innovation has joined the SBD family of member companies, with their AX Track covert technology becoming accredited.

“Vehicle crime makes up a significant number of all recorded crimes across the United Kingdom and this is a welcome addition to the portfolio of products that has been tested and certified to meet the exacting standards you would expect from the Police. I look forward to working with AX Innovation over the coming years.”
