Chaucer, the specialty reinsurance group, has relocated its London headquarters to The Scalpel on 52 Lime Street, from its current location of 30 Fenchurch Street.
The group, which has just under 500 employees, will occupy levels six, seven and eight and 44,000 square feet of new office space.
Chaucer said it chose The Scalpel because it “best matched” the firm’s requirements, including its convenience for brokers, excellent location, and the amenities of the surrounding area.
The building’s strong green credentials, which include sustainable building materials and infrastructure for sustainable commuting were also a “key factor”.
John Fowle, CEO of Chaucer, said: “This is a hugely exciting move for us. Providing our London team and trading partners with a new, modern, and eco-friendly space in which we can work, communicate and collaborate is key.
“Our people have been incredibly resilient and flexible since the Covid-19 pandemic emerged and as we return to EC3, our new offices are designed to encourage interaction and provide an environment that flexes to each person and each team’s needs.”
He added: “Chaucer has ambitious plans to cement its global reputation as a leading reinsurance specialist. Establishing our new headquarters marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the firm.”
