Insurance company Ecclesiastical has announced it is providing its select brokers with grants worth a minimum of £2,500 to their chosen charities amid the Covid-19 crisis.
The insurance company said with the current restrictions in place due to the coronavirus spread, many charities are currently unable to hold their usual fundraising activities, which means “support is needed now more than ever”.
Ecclesiastical is ensuring that charities nominated by brokers as part of the company’s ‘Closer to You’ grant scheme will receive their funding as soon as possible. The deadline for applications has also been extended until 29 May 2020 to ensure brokers don’t miss out on grants during this difficult time
This scheme forms part of Ecclesiastical’s Select programme which began in 2015. The grants are open to selected brokers to support charities in their local communities, with some brokers having already used their grants to help frontline charities battling the coronavirus crisis.
Since it began, over £300,000 has been donated to charities close to the member brokers through the ‘Closer to You’ scheme.
Adrian Saunders, commercial director at Ecclesiastical, said: “We know that these are incredibly challenging times for many charities. By bringing forward the payment of grants and extending the deadline, we can ensure they receive vital funds to support the fantastic work they do when they need it most.
“At the same time the programme has given our brokers an opportunity to support charities doing amazing work in their local area, building their relationships with their local community in the process.”
