Gallagher, a global insurance, risk management, and consulting services company, has appointed two managing directors.
Barry Duffin will oversee the firm’s specialist retail brands, which include Deacon, George Burrows, Instasure, and RGA Insurance Group.
David Birch has been appointed managing director of SME and partnerships, providing oversight of the firm’s SME business alongside his current responsibility of leading Gallagher’s relationships with strategic affinity partners.
The company’s retail division, SME, and personal lines employs 950 people and has over 800,000 clients in the UK.
Gareth Birch, managing director of SME and personal lines at the firm, said: “I am delighted that we are able to expand their roles and enable these talented individuals to continue to grow their careers with Gallagher.
“SMEs make up over 95% of the UK’s business population , and are a huge and very important part of the British economy. Gallagher works with a large number of SMEs supporting them with risk management and insurance advice, enabling the owners and directors of these businesses to focus on running successfully their firms [sic].”
Duffin has spent 17 years at Gallagher, holding a variety of managerial positions during this time, while Birch has worked for the firm for a decade.
