New road safety app to ‘transform’ insurance market

The RoadHow app has been launched to help insurance providers access real-world data regarding drivers’ skills and knowledge

A new road safety app has been launched to “transform” the car insurance marketplace in the UK.

The RoadHow app has now launched to help insurance providers access real-world data regarding drivers’ skills and knowledge, acting as a hub between drivers and insurers.

Among its features are a ‘RoadRating’, which acts similarly to a credit rating, which allows users to take tests and improve their knowledge in order to lower insurance premiums.

Adrian Ryan, CEO of RoadHow, said: “We’ve launched this app to disrupt the UK driving and insurance markets.

“RoadHow is committed to improving driver knowledge and road risk with the goal of reducing accidents, injuries and fatalities on the road by using intelligent and innovative technology to provide better information for both insurers and motorists through transparency.”

He added: “Over time, claims frequency and severity should reduce as insurance providers start to see what drivers know and don’t know about being on the road, rewarding safer drivers and bikers through personalised premiums, engagement and incentives whilst encouraging and supporting others to improve.

“For the first time, insurance providers will be able to know the knowledge risk each person on the road represents and measure that accordingly through our proprietary scoring systems and data.”
