Trade credit insurer Atradius has appointed Stuart Ramsden as its new regional director for the UK and Ireland, effective from 1 July 2020.
Ramsden, who has been with the firm since 1991, succeeds Alun Sweeney who steps down from the role he has held for over 10 years at the end of June.
Having joined Atradius in 1991, Ramsden has held a number of senior positions, including 10 years as country manager for Atradius Ireland. The firm said that with over 20 years’ experience in the Credit Insurance industry and a proven business acumen, his appointment “ensures a bright future for Atradius in [the] UK and Ireland”.
Sweeney was expected to retire this summer, but due to the Covid-19 crisis has agreed to remain with Atradius until the autumn to continue to support the business and to provide technical advice as Atradius navigates forward through the pandemic.
Andreas Tesch, chief market officer at Atradius, said: “I am delighted to welcome Stuart to our leadership team and congratulate him on his appointment as regional director UK and Ireland.
“His vast experience in trade credit insurance ably equips him to take the baton from Alun and continue the positive momentum that our UK and Ireland region has established.”
He added: “Stuart steps into the role at one of the most challenging times that our industry has seen, I am confident that he will provide the leadership and guidance required to ensure that Atradius continues to deliver for our customers in the UK and Ireland.
“I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Alun for the enormous contribution he has made to Atradius during his 21 years with our business. Through Alun’s leadership, the UK and Ireland region has developed substantially and his legacy provides a strong platform to take the business forward into the future. I wish him a long and happy retirement.”
