Antoine Gosset-Grainville has been named as the new chairman of AXA, with his role set to come into effect in April 2022.
His appointment follows the retirement of current chairman, Denis Duverne, who will step down in the spring.
Gosset-Grainville was chosen after a “comprehensive succession process led by the compensation and governance committee of AXA’s board over the past two years”.
He first joined the firm last June as a member of AXA’s finance committee. He has previous experience in financial and economic governance, having been deputy general secretary of the European Monetary Committee and then later of the Economic and Financial Committee of the European Union in 1997.
In April 2013, Gosset-Grainville also co-founded the law firm, BDGS Associés – which is located in Paris, France.
He said: “I am very honored by the confidence the board of directors has placed in me and am proud to be part of the history of this great company, which has grown over the past decades to become a flagship of French and international finance.
“I would also like to thank Denis Duverne and Thomas Buberl [chief executive officer at AXA] for their trust. I look forward to working closely with Denis Duverne, Thomas Buberl and the board over the next year to ensure a successful transition in April 2022.”
