AXA XL has appointed Nicola Harris to be the firm’s new head of Energy, UK and Lloyd’s market.
Harris succeeds Peter Welton in the role, who has been promoted to chief underwriting officer, and will be responsible for expanding the UK’s energy book, executing strategy and designing insurance solutions for the firm’s clients.
She has been promoted to the role after holding several senior Energy roles within AXA XL, since joining the firm from Allianz Global Corporate and Speciality in 2018.
Welton said: “Global economic uncertainty resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic has significantly affected the global energy market, which was already facing several headwinds.
“Having the right team in place is an integral part of our commitment to our clients, as they manage the associated risks today and in the future.”
He added: “I am delighted that Nicola will be taking on the role of Head of Energy, UK & Lloyd’s market.
“Nicola has more than 20 years’ experience in the Energy insurance sector, both on the broking and underwriting side, and I have every confidence that her high level of knowledge and experience gained throughout her career positions her ideally to lead the team.”
