Ecclesiastical Insurance Office has announced the appointment of Sir Stepehen Lamport to its board as a non-executive director, effective immediately.
Lamport, the former receiver general of Westminster Abbey and was previously clerk to the Dean and Chapter. He has also held positions as group director of The Royal Bank of Scotland.
He also served at the United Nations as well as the British Embassies in Tehran and Rome and has been a Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey.
The news follows, Ecclesiastical reporting a pre-tax profit of £73.3m in its full-year results, last month. The insurance company also reported underwriting profit of £20m compared with £29.2m in 2018 as Gross written premium (GWP) increased by 10% to £394m (2018: £357m).
