Ed appoints Robert Coward to its transactional risk team

Ed, a reinsurance, wholesale and specialty broker, has announced the appointment of Robert Coward, a qualified corporate lawyer, as divisional director in its professional and executive risk team, effective immediately.

Ed said Coward will report to head of transactional risk, Niraj Perera.

The firm said that in this role Coward’s legal expertise will provide “invaluable support” in providing insurance solutions for M&A transactions, including warranty and indemnity, tax liability and contingent liability.

He joins Ed from one of the leading law firms, Travers Smith, where he was an associate working in the private equity team. Prior to this, he was an associate at McDermott Will and Emery, where he specialised in corporate M&A.

Perea said: “Robert’s appointment is indicative of Ed’s continued commitment and ambition to expand its bespoke transactional risk offering. Despite challenging times, there is currently a sharp focus on the M&A market, and we are confident that our ability to hire and invest in the best industry talent means that we can provide top-tier support and advice to our clients.

“Robert’s UK and international legal experience in M&A transactions will be an asset to our team, as we deliver specialty solutions to our private equity and legal clients.”
