HDI Global, an industrial lines insurer, has announced the appointment of Claire McDonald as managing director at HDI Ireland.
The move belongs to a streamlining initiative at the group as it aims to combine its UK and Irish operations.
Effective as of 1 February 2021, the appointment represents a shift in responsibilities for McDonald, who will now head both the firm’s UK and Ireland branches.
In turn, Paul Moraghan, general manager at HDI Ireland, will depart from his role after a ten year stint at the firm.
Moraghan said: “It has been a pleasure to work with HDI over the last ten years and I am proud of what we have developed here in Ireland.
“I wish the team every success. I am now looking forward to investigating new opportunities that will leverage the depth of my experience.”
McDonald thanked Moraghan for his “dedication, commitment and for building up our book and our team,” while wishing him “every success for the future”.
While the decision represents a cut to the group’s Ireland branch at the expense of its UK expansion, the company ensured that it “remains committed” to the Irish market.
The group will reportedly be expanding its product range for its Irish corporate clients in 2021, extending its construction and erection insurance, inherent defects insurance, and telematics-based motor fleet offerings.
