Marsh unveils senior leadership appointments

The appointments come as Marsh continues to invest in its global financial and professional (FINPRO) capabilities.

Marsh has announced senior appointments within its financial and professional (FINPRO) specialty, including Paul Denny as global specialty head of FINPRO, Beth Thurston as UK CEO of FINPRO business, and Stephanie Manson as UK management liability leader.

Effective 1 January 2022, Denny will work with Marsh’s FINPRO leaders across eight global regions to ensure that clients “benefit from the knowledge and experience” of Marsh Specialty’s team of over 1,350 financial lines insurance specialists worldwide.

He will also join the Marsh Specialty Global Executive Committee and report to Lucy Clarke, president of Marsh Specialty and Marsh Global Placement.

Denny reportedly brings global experience to his new role, having worked in the UK, US, and international insurance markets. Most recently, he served as CEO of FINPRO UK for three years, managing the management liability, financial services, professional liability, cyber, and specie risk teams.

He has also advised leading professional service firms and financial institutions, including numerous FTSE100 companies, on their professional risks programmes.

Meanwhile, Thurston will succeed Denny as the CEO of FINPRO UK and she will report to Dominic Samengo-Turner, CEO of Marsh Specialty UK.

Thurston has worked for Marsh for 12 years and currently leads the UK Management Liability team. Prior to joining Marsh, she was a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, and a counsel in a city law firm where she specialised in insurance and reinsurance litigation for more than 14 years.

Additionally, Manson will succeed Thurston as UK Management Liability leader, reporting to Thurston. Manson is currently chief client officer for Management Liability and head of Directors’ and Officers’ Product.

Prior to joining Marsh, Manson was head of Commercial Institutions at AIG UK. She has also previously worked as a lawyer in Washington D.C., specialising in insurance disputes.

Lucy Clarke, president of Marsh Specialty and Marsh Global Placement, said: “Throughout their careers, Paul, Beth, and Stephanie have demonstrated exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication in supporting our clients through often volatile market conditions.

“Their considerable experience will be invaluable, as we continue to invest in our global FINPRO capabilities, and develop solutions and create capacity for some of our clients’ most challenging risk issues.”
