Pulse Insurance welcomes new non-executive director

Pulse Insurance has announced that John Blundell has joined its board with effect from 1 October 2020.

Blundell brings with him a “wealth” of insurance leadership experience, according to the group, having held past roles as managing director of Ecclesiastical Insurance, Sterling Insurance Group and St Andrew’s Group.

Pulse provides Life Assurance, Accidental Death and other insurance protection products for individuals and groups who “cannot get the cover required from the standard market”.

It has recently expanded its services and product range following the establishment of its Specialty Team, and the acquisition of STB Insurance Brokers, enabling it to branch out into Personal Accident, Business Travel, Kidnap and Ransom and various Sports Liability covers.

Paul Sandilands, chairman of Pulse, said: “John has achieved sustained, profitable growth at each of the insurance companies that he has led and this experience will be of terrific value to Pulse in fulfilling plans to grow in the UK and Europe.”

Torquil McLusky, Pulse M.D. added: “John’s experience will also ensure that the prerequisites for growth are in place. We will welcome his input concerning strong corporate Governance, internal controls and Risk Management.

“We want to continue to grow a company that is compliant but that is nimble, agile and non-hierarchical. We intend to keep adding staff who fit with that culture.”
