Swiss Re UK chief to step down

Tavaziva Chadamoyo Madzinga leaves the role to join Britam Holdings as its group managing director

Tavaziva Chadamoyo Madzinga, the chief executive officer for Swiss Re in the UK and Ireland, is leaving the position to join Britam Holdings, a leading African financial services group.

Madzinga is set to join the firm as its new group managing director on 1 February 2021 and has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry.

After graduating from both the INSEAD and Harvard Business Schools, Madzinga has since served in various capacities within the Swiss Re family, which include CEO of Swiss Re in the UK and Ireland and managing director of Swiss Re in the Middle East.

He has also served as the CEO for Old Mutual in South and East Africa and is a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Britam’s board expressed confidence that the company will “immensely benefit from Mr. Madzinga’s skills, knowledge and experience”.

He replaces Dr. Benson Irungu Wairegi as the group’s managing director, who has served the firm for over 40 years.

His appointment is subject to the approval of the Insurance Regulatory Authority.
