QBE’s chief underwriting officer set to retire

The chief underwriting officer (CUO) for global insurance firm, QBE International, will retire at the end of the year.

Colin O’Farrell, who has worked at QBE for 34 years, will assume a temporary role during the transition period while his deputy, Nick Hankin, steps into the position of interim CUO.

Hankin joined QBE in March as the group head of underwriting governance, and previously worked as CUO for commercial lines at Aviva UK.

Richard Pryce, CEO of QBE’s European operations, said: “Colin has been an exceptional business leader who has assisted in ensuring QBE European Operations’ standing in the market today.

“His focus on underwriting performance leaves QBE well placed for the future. I would like to thank him personally, and on behalf of the Board, for his contribution.”
